In case you missed it...

We met last night and discussed August's book. So much to talk about. If you have anything you need to get off your chest about the book, do it now. We'll listen.

I loved the book, did you?

I alternately loved it and dreaded it. I dreaded the chapters about Holmes and was fascinated by the Chicago World's Fair. I did a good deal of late night research on my own about it. The contrast between the two men is so striking; one, an inspiring and influential leader, the other, a parasite riding on the coattails of the great minds of the Fair. Very well written and engaging, especially for a non-fiction. Certainly one of the best non-fiction books I've read.

Funny, I wanted more about Holmes although I loved learning about the fair. I am shocked/ashamed I knew nothing about it prior to reading the book.

I thought the ending was so perfect, too. Larson is a fantastic story teller.
